Tips For Quick Makeup Application

Tips For Quick Makeup Application

For Quick Makeup Application
Life is very hectic no matter the time. People are always rushing around, and especially during the holidays. Sometimes (okay MOST of the time) you don’t have time to sit down and apply a full face of makeup before heading out for the day. Learning how to quickly apply makeup is definitely something all women need to master. Whether it’s a quick dab of lip gloss or one swipe of mascara, you should keep it simple. With these tips, you’ll be looking fabulous in under 5 mins.

Keep Organized

Think about anything you do in life and you will most likely notice that tasks get done quicker when your supplies are organized.  This same rule holds true for makeup application.  How much time do you spend fumbling around for your mascara?  Or looking for the right shade of eyeshadow?   By spending a little extra time in keeping things organized, you will find that your daily makeup application time goes by much faster.

Stick With The Basics

Try to pick out your 3-5 favorite makeup products and see if you can live with the basics.  Chances are you are the most critical person in your own looks.  You really may not need a tote full of makeup products to look good.  Even if you think you can’t do it, just give it a try and pick out 3-5 of your favorites and see how it goes.   You might surprise yourself.

If you have a good complexion without skin issues, try skipping the foundation.  Some basics to use are lipstick, mascara and blush.   If that is too bare bones for you, then try adding eyeliner and eyeshadow and keep it at that.  You will get used to your new look and so will people around you who know you.   Sometimes ladies are afraid to skip a makeup step because they will look different.  This may be true, but it could just be that you are so used to seeing yourself a certain way that you don’t think you will be beautiful with your more natural look.  Be brave and give it a try.  Skimp down little by little to wean yourself off some of the unnecessary makeup products.

Time Yourself

When I want to challenge myself to get more efficient at a task, I get out the stopwatch.  Try timing your makeup application time.   See if you can get it down to a set goal, like 5 minutes.  Then try beating your record.  If you have children, you might want to let them in on the fun and cheer mom on as she goes for a new record.  Have fun with trying to spend less time applying makeup.

Get Enough Sleep

Eye bags, dark circles, and puffy eyes can be a big red flag that you are not getting enough sleep.  While yes, it is possible to cover a lot of this lack of sleep up with foundation and concealers, try to get more sleep so you don’t have those issues in the first place.

Eat Right, Exercise and Stay Hydrated

Taking care of your body will not only reduce the amount of time that you need for makeup but it will give you more energy and make you look better.  Eating right, exercising and drinking enough water will do wonders for your looks.   Your skin is your largest organ in your body.   Take care of it, don’t just cover it up.  Skin was made to sweat.  Workout your skin and your body for surprising results to your looks.  You may find that you will ditch many of your makeup products.
Ladies, I hope this article challenged you to try spending less time putting on makeup and more time enjoying life. Try to cut back to your most basic makeup products, get enough sleep, exercise, stay hydrated and eat right.  You may find that those dark circles disappear along with the need for foundations and concealers. I hope that this short article of tips for quickly applying makeup helps you enjoy more time away from the mirror.

QUICK MAKEUP TIPS FOR BUSY MOMS

Makeup in the summer is not as big of a priority as it used to be.

I used to have a pocket of my bag devoted to lip gloss and powder … and before I stepped out of the car to walk into Target or wherever I was going I would do a quick check, un-shine my nose and swipe on some lip gloss.
Well, I’m a little bit older, a little bit more frazzled, and I feel the need to look a little more put-together now as I push the cart with the very personable and talkative preschooler in it. Lip gloss just doesn’t cut it as I make the transition from talking to complete strangers to being That One With The Crying Kid .
I pack a different arsenal now, one that can do everything I need in just a couple of swipes in the store bathroom before we make our round and after I have bribed someone to sit on the potty with stickers.
I’ve tried a couple of all-in-one makeup products, and love that it not only makes makeup easier but portable and always helps me look more put together.
I can keep it with me in case I run out of the house without anything on, which happens more than I’d like to admit and lucky I rarely run into anyone I know in real life in front of the pull-up diapers section. It’s also really fast, so I keep it in the downstairs bathroom so I can quickly throw on a face as I tell my son to find his shoes which are always missing.
My first foray into the all-in-one makeup world was a swipe of MAC Cosmetics Casual Color collection. I had stopped to check out the crazy bright colors offered, considered a peach and finally decided on the rosy Weekend Getaway color to try.
It only takes a little dab on my cheeks and lips to get some color in the right places, focusing away from my slightly sunburnt nose and sweaty forehead this summer and making me polished in a minute to go out for the evening.
It stays on really well but make sure your lips are nice and soft before putting this on!
After that foray I finally got the guts to buy something I had wanted for a long time- a nice elegant black tube of NARS Cosmetic’s The Multiple in their famous shade of Orgasm.
I know right? It’s just fun to say that in a quiet room.
Anyway, it’s a peachy-bronze and glittery color that works beautifully on my eyes and cheeks, warming up my face just enough to make my face look ‘naturally pretty’ instead of just ‘natural’. I throw it on my lips too, over a swipe of Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in Tiger Lily.
Want to try out the idea? I grabbed a tube of the ELF Cosmetics All Over Color Stick in a deliciously-scented pale shimmery pink that works great on me as a highlighter, but I’m itching to try out a darker color as another option to carry around with me everywhere (who cares if it gets lost, it was a dollar).
I’m planning on keeping this obsession going for quite a while, as I learn the fast-paced morning routine of getting my son to preschool on time.
